Ashby de la Zouch Castle

In operation from late 1645 to February 28, 1646 when the beseiged castle surrendered. Issues are identified by an "A" mintmark and have features associated with Bristol-mint dies - the Bristol garrison and mint workers had relocated to Ashby-de-la-Zouch Castle in September 1645. Original production is estimated at under 2,000 coins with about 20-30 surviving. Issues include Halfcrowns, Shillngs, Groats and Threepences.
